NC Awards Campaign

State of North Carolina

Prepared for

NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources

Role

Creative Lead

Duration

3 months (2018)

Challenge

How can the North Carolina Awards campaign present the state’s highest honor with a visual identity that feels historic, credible and compelling enough to support donor confidence and recipient pride?

Approach

I developed campaign materials that paired historic references with a refined brand system in Didot typeface, navy blue on cream high‑quality cardstock, then organized them into a cohesive presentation using screen captures and written annotations.

The design choices focused on consistency across donor‑facing pieces while preserving the prestige and legacy of the award.

Solution

The campaign created a unified visual experience across solicitation and recognition materials, with Didot typeface, navy blue color and imagery working together to elevate the award’s presentation. It gave donors, recipients and designers a clearer sense of how the campaign connects state prestige to thoughtful fundraising design.

Results

Since creating the materials in 2018, North Carolina has continued using the same design to the present day, proving the integrity and strength of this classic approach.

It demonstrates my ability to translate a historic institution into a modern, integrated brand experience.
