Challenge
How can a fictional Google education initiative use a press release and podcast to reach journalists, recruiters and higher ed partners while framing college access as a clear story of equity and technology?
Approach
Drafted the press release with inclusive language, audience-specific messaging and value proposition.
Extended the story through a podcast angle for longer-form context and voice.
Added placeholder impact metrics and a user quote to strengthen credibility and make the launch feel newsworthy across both formats.
Solution
The final package positioned Google FirstPath as a college access initiative with a strong public purpose, using the press release for announcement and the podcast for deeper storytelling. Together, they gave a clear summary of the program’s impact and a human way to understand the mission.
Results
The combined press release and podcast concept showed how earned media can shape the public narrative around education equity and technology.
Strengthened my ability to write strategic, audience-centered copy that supports higher education storytelling across multiple formats.
